Majestic Café| Authentic Art Nouveau Interiors

Located in the streets of Santa Cantarina, Majestic Cafe is  the oldest café  in Porto. It was built in the year 1921, by the architect João Queiroz.
The striking marble cafe facade, ornamented with beautiful floral elements and winding shapes, is a good reflection of the decorative style of the 1920s. The main facade boasts two elegant columns and three rectangular windows. Over these, a pediment crowns the composition with the Majestic’s initials. On each side, two amused little-boy figures seem to invite people in and hold a garland up to help visitors gain entrance.

The interior courtyard, built in 1925, is a nook with delicate contours, with small staircase and balustrade, designed as if it were a winter garden. Under the direction of the master Pedro Mendes da Silva , this space symbolizes a new era of Café Majestic.
